Nick Ardley

Author & East Coast Sailor

Nick sails from the Island Yacht Club, Canvey Island, on a Finesse 24 clinker sloop. When cruising, a little lug sail dinghy skips along behind. He explores muddy creeks and watery marshland fingers finding forgotten wharves; he wanders the riverside towns, soaking in their atmosphere and history. It is all brought vividly to life in his yarns based around a skipper and mate...

His first book was about his childhood afloat being brought up on a spritsail barge, the May Flower, and his subsequent books follow on. They tell the tales of a boy who hasn’t yet grown up! Salt flows through his veins, mud oozes from his pores: his heart lies in the marshes of the Thames estuary.
